Crafty Time! Owl Mobile

I finally finished the felt owl mobile for Odin's room. It was a lot of work but fun to make. Mum helped out by making the brown owl, so it was a multi-generational project! I love it!

Crafty Time! Felt Baby Name

Okay, here come the baby crafts. It was inevitable, you know...

This week I made felt letters spelling out the baby's name for his door. I used to have a very similar one (actually, I still have it in a box somewhere) and I love the continuity of making one for my little guy.

I do wish the felt for the O was a little darker, but these are the blue and aqua shades they had at Michaels. I added the owl because his room has a bird theme and I'll be making an owl mobile very soon (and I'll be sure to post it when it's done).

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Not professional level by any means, but I like that it looks home made. And it makes me happy when I walk past his door!

Lotsa Workin', Not Much Cookin'

Whew! I've been busy lately. Consequently, I haven't been very creative in the kitchen. No new "This Week in My Kitchen" post for a while - sorry!

I have been working on a few fun little projects though, while working full-time (only for two weeks) at a real estate brokerage making sales brochures for properties I'll never be able to afford...

First, I made a new print portfolio for Kirk. Here's the cover page, based on his web site design:

Then I worked on an ad for Adrenaline. Look for it in Vancouver buses soon!

I also got to do a brochure for the Stanley Park Ecology Society's Schools programme. Here's the inside page:

Right now I'm working on a fun website and flyers for Walk 'n' Piddle Dog Walking. This is the flyer:

Lastly, here's a little goldfish illustration I did for myself. I think I'll make it into t-shirts with my new Yudu that Kirk got me for my birthday last month!

My Favourite Blogs, Pt. 3: Wonderful, Inspiring and Weird

You may have noticed, perhaps, that I am a bit of a blog-fiend. One of my favourite things to do every morning is to open up my blog reader and see what's new. I might find an inspiring piece of art or design waiting for me, discover a new vegan recipe, or hear a great story from a friend. Maybe there's a craft fair or fun event happening in Vancouver next weekend. Whatever it is, I want to know!

To finish out My Favourite Blogs series, here's an alphabetical list of some more standout blogs that I follow regularly that didn't make it into the previous two posts. Thanks to all you fabulous bloggers out there who inspire me on a daily basis.
